Complete the survey for Faster Broadband in Suffolk.

We have received the following from Suffolk County Council. It is important that as many people as possible sign up before the deadline of 31st March 2012.

We would like to remind residents of the closing date for registering your support for better broadband for Suffolk.

There is only a few days left until the March 31 deadline and the ‘Better Broadband for Suffolk Team’ are urging everyone to show their support.

Broadband has become increasingly important to local councils with plans, consultations, legislation, information becoming only available online.
The speed of Suffolk’s broadband varies across the county with many lines only achieving 5mb or less.

With a fibre optic network being made available for the majority of Suffolk and other technologies being put forward to assist the rest, speeds will increase
significantly to 20mb. The new network will be future proof with plans to be able to achieve 100mb by 2020.

Faster broadband will benefit local councils, residents, schools, businesses across Suffolk

Report on Parish Council Meeting - 6th March 2012

There was a lively council meeting on 6th March 2012. The high points include:
  • A replacement bench has been acquired and will be sited at the bottom of Church Hill in the near future. An insurance claim is in the process of being settled to pay for it.
  • Julie Beckett has, unfortunately, tendered her resignation as a Parish Councillor. A notice advertising the vacancy is to be posted on the village notice boards. Applicants can, of course e-mail, the Blog Webmaster if they are interested in applying.
  • There was a long discussion regarding the planning application for installation of wind turbines at Great Pinners Farm on the Clopton Road. The full planning application may been seen on the Suffolk Coastal DC (SCDC) web site - HERE.
  • SCDC has proposed to transfer the ownership of the land that comprises the Play Area and Football Field in Tuddenham to the Parish Council. This was a bit contentious because of the cost of the legal fees which were looking like being about 80% of a full years PC income. However, Steve Hudson - the District Councillor for Tuddenham has raised this with SCDC and the District Council has agreed to bear the cost of the legal requirements. Further details on this will be provided as and when available. A map was provided in a recent blog post showing where the play area is and we would like very much to see it's use expanded.
  • The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The Parish Council has agreed to provide £200 towards the costs of putting on some activities on the day. At the moment the agreed actions have resulted in the Village Hall being booked for the day and each child in the village that is 16 or younger on the day will receive a commemorative mug.
The next Parish Council meeting is on Tuesday the 1st May 2012 and all are welcome to come along.
